A KASHAN OR SULTANABAD BLUE, BLACK AND WHITE POTTERY BOWL
Central Iran, late 13th century
Of conical form on vertical foot, the blue interior painted with a complex design of interlaced arabesques issuing split palmettes and leaf-motifs surrounded by small floral designs, plain black line around the rim, the exterior with vertical blue bars dividing panels of scrolling leafy motifs, even light surface iridescence
