A LARGE COPPER BOWL WITH THE NAMES OF THE TWELVE IMAMS
TIMURID OR EARLY SAFAVID IRAN OR CENTRAL ASIA, 15TH/EARLY 16TH CENTURY
Of rounded form, the bowl narrowing above the shoulder, with flared rim, the engraved decoration with a large calligraphic band in thuluth script giving the names of the Twelve Imams on hatched ground, a register of cusped half-medallions below decorated with floral arabesques, scrolls and Chinese clouds, various owners' inscriptions around the rim, one reading sahibuhu Mihr 'Alijan, with old defaced waqf inscriptions
