The owner of the Company French & Co who owned the key from 1940-1958, maintained this key was from Exeter Cathedral. The the key was sold to Sydney Charlat upon the death of the original owner. Stylistically it is later than the buildings of the Cathedral OF circa 1265-1342, but it is entirely possible locks were changed sometime in the 15th Century
