Lot Essay

Thus unidentified, this service was, in Howard's opinion, likely made for a friend of the wealthy West India trader Moses Benson of Lutwyche Hall, Shropshire, who ordered the only other service known in this pattern. Op. cit. (vol. II), p. 222.
