marked P. Ovchinnikov with Imperial warrant, Moscow, 1896-1908
Circular, on four silver-gilt chased and engraved gryphon feet, the domed base enamelled with a band of translucent blue scalework above a border of red enamel with gilt scroll and bead decoration, the convex sides decorated in two intersecting lobed bands, the lower with flowerheads, pellets and scrolls on alternating translucent blue-green and rust-red grounds, the upper with stylised flowers on pale pink and green grounds, with yellow stone flowerheads on plain gilt concave ground emanating from enamel leaves above, the broad spreading rim with lobed panels of stylized flowers within a flattened floral border set with cabochon stones, the shaped handles enamelled overall with flowers, foliage and pellets and set with further cabochons, marked under base
