This particular model of guridon and its flowerhead-filled trellis parquetry frieze is very often attributed to Jean-Pierre Dusautoy (matre in 1779). This elegant model derives from the work of RVLC (Roger Vandercruse, called 'Lacroix'). The untertier of these occasional tables often depicted conforming parquetry, which was occasionally centred by a floral bouquet.
Two related tables en chiffonnire are illustrated in F.J.B. Watson, The Wrightsman Collection, 1996, vol. 1, no. 138 and 140, pp. 277 and 280. A similar table en chiffonnire from the Estate of Joseph Gruss was sold Christie's, New York, 24 April 1994, lot 263, while another attributed to Jean-Pierre Dusautoy was sold anonymously in these Rooms, 25 March 1999, lot 174, (17,500).
