Georges Jacob, maître in 1765.
Georges Jacob (1739-1814) was one of the most celebrated and prolific chair makers of the 18th Century. His long list of wealthy patrons included European aristocrats and royalty. He was a favorite of Marie Antoinette. Upon Georges retirement in 1796, his sons Georges II and François-Honoré-Georges took over their fathers atelier and the firm became Jacob Frères, Rue Meslée.
