A LATE TIMURID OR EARLY SAFAVID TINNED-COPPER POURING VESSEL
IRAN, LATE 15TH OR EARLY 16TH CENTURY
Rising from flat base through waisted section to oval shaped body with flaring rim, open slightly curved spout also with flaring rim, the base with carved scrolling vegetal pattern, the body decorated with carved interlacing medallions with engraved floral sprays and cross-hatching, background of interlaced vegetal shapes, the shoulder with calligraphic cartouches interspersed with interlacing geometric motifs, rim with carved stylised wave-pattern, spout with engraved floral pattern, decoration partly rubbed, two areas of repair
