The bell top case with urn finials and caryatid mounts to the front angles, arched foliate cast spandrels below handles to the sides, winged cherub spandrels to the front door (later handle), on foliate cast scroll feet, the gilt-brass dial with silvered rings to the arch for chime/silent, slow/fast, chime on eight bells/Westminster chimes, silvered Roman chapter ring with Arabic five minutes, with retail plaque to the matted centre below XII inscribed HOWELL & JAMES TO THE QUEEN 5, 7 & 9 REGENT ST. LONDON, the triple chain fusee movement with anchor escapement quarter-chiming on eight bells and hour striking on one gong, with pendulum holdfast to the backplate (securing screw lacking) -- 17in. (44.5cm.) high
