A late Victorian oak longcase clock, circa 1880
The case with foliate mouldings to a breakarch hood, rectangular trunk door with stiff leaf carved border, flanked by moulded angles, the plinth with raised concave cut corner panel and wavy apron, 12½in. brass dial with cherub mask and foliate spandrels to a silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring, matted centre with subsidiary seconds ring and signed on a silvered plaque DENT 61 STRAND & 4 ROYAL EXCHANGE LONDON 54591, pierced and blued steel hands, strike/silent ring in the arch, the four pillar movement with anchor escapement and rack strike on gong -- 84¾in. (214.5cm.) high
