Originally made by the Guide Lamp Division of General Motors in 1942 as the '.45 Flare Projector', the 'Liberator' was intended as an assassination weapon to be dropped by air to Resistance groups. A million of these were made in three months at $2.10 each - one every 7½ seconds. The pistol is complete with a copy of the original comic strip loading instructions which, with ten rounds of ammunition, was concealed in the butt
