with flower-filled guilloche frieze and an armorial device carved with laurel and headed by a winged putto, the angles with scrolled winged herm supports on imbrocated sea serpentine feet with watery bases, 17th century and later, adapted, restorations and replacements, lacking top -- 36in. (91.5cm.) wide, 32½in. (80.5cm.) high, 24in. (61cm.) deep
An engraving of a dolphin very similar to those on the base of this stand is included in a series of designs for bronze mounts by an unknown late 17th century Dutch artist and is illustrated G. Egger Beschlage und Schlosser an Alten Mobela, 1973, Munich, page 30
