A LOUIS XIV BOULLE BRASS-INLAID RED TORTOISESHELL-INLAID BUREAU MAZARIN Circa 1690 Inlaid overall en premire partie with Brainesque designs, the top with Venus crowning Cupid beneath a canopy and between dancing satyrs, the sides with outset and ebony framed panels inlaid with sphinxes, the top with a molded brass rim above a central frieze drawer with molded ebony edges and a kneehole with door opening to reveal a compartment, flanked on each side with three walnut-lined short drawers with molded ebony edge, the canted corners above conforming tapering square legs joined by X-form stretchers, on toupie feet, the back replaced, the marquetry to the stretchers and the apron replaced 32in. (84.5cm.) high, 47in. (124.5cm.) wide, 27in. (71.5cm.) deep
