Circular box, the hinged cover and base with bombé sides consisting of a transformed Louis XIV gold watch-case cover and base enamelled with the Choice of Hercules on lid and base and with four oval cartouches depicting architectural views on a ground enamelled in purple camaïeu with vegetables, the counter-enamels at the inside painted en grisaille with landscapes on a blue ground, the plain gold mounts with concave sides, reeded borders and slightly raised reeded thumbpiece
