After David Teniers the younger, probably Beauvais
Woven in wools and silks, depicting to the centre a group of peasants sitting around a table with a maiden behind them, within a building and a view of a wooded landscape beyond, in a foliate wrapped-border and a frame of berainesque foliate scrolls, to the centre top with a spray of fruits, areas of reweaving, within a later moulded giltwood frame
39 in. x 28 in. (99 cm. x 71 cm.)

Lot Essay

A panel of identical subject was sold anonymously at Sotheby's London, 9 December 1994, lot 28, while a further panel woven in reverse and believed to be English is illustrated in 'Four Centuries of Tapestries', exhibition catalogue, London, 1966, cat. 58.
