Rectangular, with canted corners, the cover and base set with tortoise shell plaques piqué in varicolored gold depicting hounds attacking a stag on the cover, and a hunting dog and hare on the base, the panels set within gold guilloche borders, the sides with engine-turned paillon panels, marked inside cover, base and sides, the outer bezel with post 1838 warranty mark, engraved Vachette Bijoutier à Paris, with fitted green leather case marked Garrard & Co.
