This model is based on no. 111 in Osmond's Livre de Desseins of 1775, and was described as '...Architecture Colonne Vase (H. Ottomeyer P. Pröschel et. al., Vergoldete Bronzen, Munich, 1986 vol I, p. 228, fig 4.1.7). An example in a French private collection is illustrated in G. Henriot, Bronzes et Bois Sculpté des Collections Privées, n.d. fig. 16.2. A further example was sold, Christie's London, 5 July 1984, lot 20.
