A Meissen plate
Circa 1880, blue crossed swords mark and cancellation marks, decorated outside the factory
Painted with an eagle in flight above a landscape, supposedly Fort William on the Hudson River, bearing a shield painted with the stars and stripes, arrows and a berried laurel branch, with a banner inscribed E PLURIBUS UNUM, in a shaped cartouche on a gilt fretted ground below a pink border (light rubbing)
9¾ in. (24.8 cm.) diam.
