A MEISSEN SMALL BULLET-SHAPED TEAPOT AND COVER
CIRCA 1742, BLUE CROSSED SWORDS MARK AND GILT T (?)
With wishbone handle and curved tapering spout of octagonal section, each enriched with gilt Gitterwerk and husks, each side painted with merchants on boats and standing on quaysides before towers and distant ships, within elaborate shaped circular gilt and dark-brown line pierced scroll cartouches surmounted with shells and with panels of diaper, scale and line ornament, flanked by flower-sprays and below a gilt Laub-und-Bandelwerk border, the cover with gilt pine-cone finial flanked by two vignettes within an iron-red concentric double circle border and gilt line rim (minute wear to gilding at tip of spout and rim of cover)
