A Meissen teabowl and saucer
Circa 1725, Dreher's to footrim of teabowl, gilder's 54. to both
Painted in the manner of J.G. Melhorn with a traveller crossing a bridge in a moonlit river landscape, the reverse with a mountainous river landscape beneath a cloudy sky, the interior of the bowl with a geometric arrangement of half flowerheads, the saucer with two figures fishing in a moonlit river landscape with figures and goats by a camp fire, all enclosed within elaborate Böttger-lustre panelled and gilt puce and iron-red scroll cartouches with elaborate gilt scroll and flowerhead borders
