    Underglaze-blue Hongzhi six-character mark within a double circle and of the period (1488-1505)
    Thinly potted with shallow rounded sides rising from a tapering foot, all under a fine even white glaze
    8½ in. (21.5 cm.) diam.

    Lot Essay

    Another white glazed Hongzhi mark and period dish of the same size is illustrated in J. Harrison-Hall, Ming Ceramics in the British Museum, London, 2001, p. 177, with five others recorded in J. A. Pope, Chinese Porcelain from the Ardebil Shrine, London, 1981.
