PROPERTY FROM THE ESTATE OF FONG CHOW
A MOTHER-OF-PEARL-INLAID BROWN LACQUER OCTAGONAL TRAY
The shallow tray is raised on corner supports and is decorated in the center with a scene of two scholars seated in a pavilion, one watching the other playing the qin, while outside a woman stands near a crane, a cart is being drawn by a goat, and two boys are playing with a ball. The outcurved sides are decorated on the interior with diaper pattern and on the exterior with 'precious objects'. The center of the base is inlaid with three characters, Wang Langu, followed by two seals, Langu and Mianting.
