Lot Essay

Jean-Pierre Hoefer was established at 75, faubourg Saint-Antoine in 1838, and subsequently came to specialise in 'meubles de fantaisie' embellished with inlay of exotic woods, metals and other materials and with gilt-metal mounts, meriting the attention of the judges of numerous exhibitions, and winning a medal of the First Class at the Exposition universelle of 1855.
