A NORTHERN EUROPEAN EBONISED AND PIETRA PAESINA TABLE CABINET ON LATER STAND Late 17th/early 18th century, probably Dutch or German The hinged top inset with ripple-moulded cushion panel centred by tortoiseshell and ivory-strung panels concealing cavetto frieze compartment containing ten drawers inset with panels of pietra paesina with lapis spandrels in ripple-moulded borders about a central removeable mirrored compartment with chequer flooring concealing two secret drawers behind enclosed by a pair of cushion ripple-moulded panel doors with similar sides, the 19th century base fitted with two drawers and inlaid with lines, on square tapered legs joined by a stretcher, on turned feet The cabinet 22½in.
