Donna Martina belongs to a series of sixteen comedy figures which was first mentioned in the Nymphenburg factory's inventory of moulds of 1760. Another example of Donna Martina with very similar colouring is illustrated by C.H. Beck, Bustelli, Nymphenburger Porzellanfiguren des Rokoko, Munich, 2004, no. 150, p. 292 and p. 477. An XRF test conducted (in 2017) by Cranfield University was inconclusive as to the dating of the decoration on this figure.
