The scene copies a print by C. J. Visscher de Jonge, a Dutch engraver, who based his design on a drawing by Abraham Bloemaert (1564-1651. A very similar plate from the Mottahedeh Collection is illustrated by Howard and Ayers, China for the West, London and New York, 1978, vol.II, pp.368-70, no.362. See D. S.
