Lot Essay

This pair of polychrome-decorated and parcel-gilt vases are virtually identical to a pair in the Galerie Suger Collection, attributed to Jean-Fran/dcois Robert, and illustrated in J.L. Curtis, Baccarat, New York, 1992, pp. 230-233. Robert, a decorative artist at the royal porcelain manufactory at Sévres (1806-34 and 1836-43), decorated opalines by Baccarat and Saint Louis with floral designs in enamels, as well as gold, silver and platinum, from 1843-1855.
