Hugh Fortescue, 14th Baron Clinton (d. 1751) was one of the original Knights of the Bath invested on 27 May 1725 when the Order was revived. On 5 July 1749 he was created 1st Earl Clinton, and died without issue on 3 May 1751, when the title became extinct. The engraving on these sauceboats would coincide with the date of his elevation to the Earldom in 1749.
Another possibility would be George Cholmondeley, 3rd Earl of Cholmondeley (1702-1770), who was also created one of the original Knights of the Bath on the Order's revival in 1725. He succeeded to the Earldom in 1733 and died in 1770.
