In the Christofle archives, the model for this pair of candelabra is referred to as 'Candélabre à dix lumières à épargnes dorées, Louis XVI, vase allongé riche 'grec', griffes aigles, décor de masques, N couronné sur le pied'. They were executed between 1869 and 1870, a commission from the Emperor himself, hence the Imperial cypher on the base. Since there are no archives retracing the imperial commissions, it is impossible to say wether these candelabra were made for his personal use or as a court gift.
A very close model was exhibited by Christofle at the Paris 1867 Exposition Universelle.
