Pierre Malbet, matre in 1765.
These chairs were originally part of a set of six sold at auction in Versailles. One pair remains in a private collection in Paris, and another pair from the Bouvier collection is in the Muse Carnavalet, Paris, and illustrated in the catalogue, no. 119. They chairs have the unusual feature of the back being connected solely through a central support rather than by two supports to each side at the base of the stiles.
