A pair of Meissen Chinoiserie two-handled beakers
CIRCA 1725, GILDER'S 1. AND DREHER'S .. TO BOTH
Each with double-scroll handles with foliage-moulded thumbpieces enriched with gilt bands, probably painted by J.G. Höroldt, each side with an Oriental on a terrace with flowering shrubs and trees, stylised fences and insects and birds in flight above, one Oriental lady holding a fan, another with a parasol and a smoking incense-burner, an Oriental gentleman preparing tea by a low circular table, within elongated quatrefoil gilt cartouches with Böttger-lustre panels edged with gilt scrolls issuing puce and red scrolls and green and puce husks, the interiors with gilt Laub-und-Bandelwerk borders below gilt line rims (small chip to footrim of one, minute areas of wear to both) (2)
