Lot Essay

According to Gorham scholar Sam Hough, the Gorham code of a letter over two others indicates a prototype for the company's use. These candelabra were one of a number of oversized pieces produced by Gorham for showroom and marketing purposes. As they were not intended for sale, no costing records exist.

See lots 221-223 for other objects that formed part of the Lenox-Gorham Archive.

A matching pair of candelabra sold in these rooms, 23 May 2006, lot 6.
