A pair of Paris armorial two-handled vases
Circa 1840, with dark-blue enamel retailer's mark of J.B.Cappellemans ainé Bruxelles.
Of campana form, the gilt handles with mask terminals, the fronts with a coat of arms supported by gilt griffins and surmounted by a helmet with a griffin crest and red and gilt mantling within circular gilt cartouches edged with gilt dot ornament and two palmettes, the reverses with bouquets within similar cartouches, against a blue ground with gilt caillouté ornament, the richly gilt lower parts on waisted blue-ground feet enriched with caillouté ornament on square gilt plinths (some very slight areas of wear to gilding, areas of wear to gilt plinth bases)
