One 19th Century and one of later date, of George II style
Each with a moulded square cornice above a tamed lion mask suspending a ribbon-tied acorn-leaf trail, the sides with flowerheads above the tapering fluted shaft, on a waisted and gadrooned plinth base, restorations, the top half of one column detached from the lower half
51 in. (131 cm.) high; 12 in. (30.5 cm.) square (2)

Lot Essay

A pair of related George III white and light-green painted torcheres, which may have formed part of the furnishings of Duddingstone House, Midlothian (built by Sir William Chambers between 1763 and 1768), was sold by a nobleman, in these Rooms, 15 November 1990, lot 85.
