A pair of globes of this precise model was almost certainly supplied to Thomas Langford-Brooke (d.1815) for Mere Hall, Cheshire and was sold by Christie's London, 23 May 1994, lot 195 (26,450). The stands may have been part of the extensive furnishings supplied by the firm of Gillow. Interestingly, the maps on the Mere Hall globes bear the exact same inscription as on these globes and are dated 1858. These maps would have been ordered to update the original Regency globes which appear in an 1840 inventory.
