Further details
Oakbeams was a large detatched house built in the 1920s Tudor style by the architects C.C.Makins and P.Badcock of 33 Henrietta Street, for the artist's agent G.Robert Cole.In the early 1930s Cole commissioned Gordon Russell Ltd to remodel and refurnish the house. R.D.Russell was responsible for the study, which featured an unusual curved oak desk, and a 'Boomerang' carpet by Marian Pepler.
The redecoration of Oakbeams provided promotional opportunities for Gordon Russell Ltd, and before-and-after photographs were used to great effect.
