Tompion No. 479 was apparently the only timepiece produced by Tompion after No. 117. When it was sold by Christie's in 1971 it was pictured with an additional winding square at chapter IX which was presumably an extra striking train that had been added at some stage in its life. All trace of this was then removed by the pre-eminent restorer Dan Parkes of Clerkenwell. There was no mention of this extra train in the 1971 catalogue description, nor was there any mention of the pull quarter repeat system.
