A RARE CASED PAIR OF SILVER MOUNTED AMERICAN SAW-HANDLED FLINT-LOCK DUELING PISTOLS

The octagonal twist steel barrels engraved B&J Cooper New York are set with silver fore-sights, gold lined touch holes and double gold bands at breeches. Locks with inlaid gold ovals engraved B&J COOPER, finely engraved borders, gold lined rain-proof pans, push-on half-cock safeties, and roller frizzen springs. Burl walnut saw-handled stocks, checkered bag-shaped grips with spiral fluted silver pommel caps, silver spur trigger guards with pineapple finials and panoplies-of-arms on trigger bows, silver fore-end caps, ram-rod pipes, oval wedge plates, and engraved circular counter-plates. Set triggers. Horn-tipped ram-rods. Within their original green baize lined, partitioned, oil-finished mahogany case with original paper maker's label applied to interior of lid. The label reads B. & J. Cooper, No.19 Partition Street, New York. "N.E. Guns & Pistols Repaired With Neatness".
