A RARE FAMILLE ROSE PLATE FOR THE INDIAN MARKET CIRCA 1770-80 Enamelled at the centre with a mahout astride his elephant within a leaf-scroll surround and spearheads in the well, the border unusually with six panels of ladies alternating with boys beside a flower spray below the foliate rim, minor chips 9 in. (23 cm.) diam.

This central scene was used within at least four different border designs between 1760 and 1790, but this border design appears to be the rarest.
