A RARE GERMAN CARTRIDGE-BOX (PATRON)
With wooden body of strongly arched plano-convex section drilled for five cartridges, the outer face veneered with vertical strips of staghorn engraved with acanthus leaves and fruit, the contrasting ebony strips heightened with horn lines and inset with horn rosettes, riveted iron mounts previously blued and now slightly oxidised, including spring-activated hinged lid secured by a button catch, the base formed with a pronounced outward flange, and fitted with three loops for suspension: containing four reproduction cartridges.
