A rare Merrythought 'Punkinhead' teddy bear
with brown mohair, velvet muzzle, black stitched nose and mouth, golden mohair inner ear and chest, long white mohair on scalp, swivel head, jointed limbs with felt pads, velvet feet and label on foot --20½in. (52cm.) high, circa 1951 (wear, lacks shorts, repairs to feet, balding arms and top of head)

Punkinhead was made exclusively as the mascot for Eaton's Department store in Toronto, Canada. He became the hero of several storybooks, as well as the leader of the annual Santa Claus parade.
