A rare Steiff Schlopsnies Vera doll
with swivel celluloid head, features painted on the inside, felt body with jointed legs, original frock and bonnet of light blue and blue and yellow gingham, white cotton under clothes, brown leather slippers and white plastic teddy bear head label around neck 'Steiff Schlopsnies Puppe' --15½in. (39.5cm.) high, 1921-27 (very slight loss of paint to inside forehead)

The Steiff Schlopsnies dolls were made from Rheinischen Gummi (Turtle mark) celluloid heads. They were then hand painted, filled with excelsior and glue to the body at the Steiff factory.
