David Pintard is recorded working in Chatellerault from 1685.
Chatellerault is a town just north of Poitiers and approximately 200 miles south west of Paris.
Very few examples of dial clocks of this type are recorded being made in France at this time. The dial is beautifully inlaid with ivory and the hand is an exquisite example of a scaled-up example of a watch hand from the same period. The movement is a slightly larger and excellent example of French watchmaking from the period.
