The distinctive reeded leg associated with the firm of Gillows of London and Lancaster features on a related Pembroke table by Gillows, supplied in 1813 to William Powlett, 2nd Baron Bolton (1782-1850) for the Dressing Room adjoining the South West Bedroom at Hackwood and sold Hackwood Park, Christie's house sale, 20-22 April 1998, lot 370 (£14,950). The pattern of Pembroke table relates to one in Gillows' General Sketch Book, 344 144, p. 11 and also to one supplied in 1811 for Tatton Park, Cheshire (N. Goodison and J. Hardy, 'Gillows Furniture at Tatton Park', Furniture History, 1970, pp. 28, 30, 32 & 35, pl. 16b).
