During the Great Depression, the prominent French jeweler Mauboussin partnered with the American-based company Trabert & Hoeffer to increase exposure in the U.S. market. Mauboussin's artistic creativity and Trabert & Hoeffer's marketing acumen introduced an innovative design concept in the 1930's, Reflection: Your Personality in a Jewel, which offered women a personalized line of jewelry at a reasonable price. Lot 15, a highly polished sculpted 18k gold and sapphire bracelet shows the essence of Reflection's design. This bracelet was most likely a collaboration of a pre-made design and the client's personal taste and preference. The Reflection line remained popular until the 1950s and was a true example of successful marketing and genuine design.
