A ROMAN BRONZE JANIFORM HERM BUST
CIRCA 1ST CENTURY A.D.
One side with young satyr, with long pointed ears, short horns on his forehead and prominent scent glands on his neck, his hair a wild mass of thick locks, his chiselled face with pointed chin, undulating brows and high rounded cheek bones; the other side with a goddess, wearing a diadem in her center-parted hair, the wavy strands pulled back over her ears, a thick ringlet falling onto each shoulder, a short curl in front of each ear, with a long straight nose, arching brows and pointed chin; both with the eyes inlaid, the shoulders notched and perforated for attachment
