The oblong inkwell supported on four disk feet and with a drop ring handle at either end, the double hinged cover engraved with the Royal coat-of-arms and the inscription:
To The honourable Sir Arthur Lawley, KCMG, Governor of Western Australia From the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and York In remembrance of their visit to Perth 1901
