    Lot Essay

    A horse similar to the present example was excavated from the tomb of the Tang Princess Yongtai, dated 706, at Qianxian, Shaanxi province; see Wenwu, 1964:1, p. 11. A horse of the same period, dated 703, was unearthed at Yanshi, Henan province; see Kaogu, 1992:11, fig. 4:5.
