Lot Essay

The chair's late 17th century style patterned upholstery replicates that of a set of Queen Anne chairs acquired in 1936 by the Philadelphia Museum of Art (G. Beard, Upholsterers and Interior Furnishing in England, London, 1997, p.121, fig.73).
