A set of twelve Edward VII silver dinner-plates Mark of Skinner & Co, London, 1908 Each shaped circular, with gadrooned border, engraved with a crest, marked on reverse, also stamped 'Skinner & Co Orchard St London. W.' 9¾in. (25cm.) diam. 239oz. (7,437gr.) The crest is that of Palmer, for William, 2nd Earl of Selborne K.G. (1859-1942). He succeeded to the earldom on his father's death in 1895. He was created a Knight of the Garter in 1909 and died in 1942. (12)
